  • ‘Freezing and Bursting Alert’

K-water launched the “freezing and bursting alert” service on “Water Now,” a mobile app providing national water supply information, on January 28, 2022 in order to minimize damage resulting from water meters that freeze and burst during wintertime. The alert services consist of “freezing and bursting forecast map” and “push notification.” The map indicates the degree of freezing and bursting risk on a scale of 0-3 for 22 local water supply facilities operated by K-water, allowing users to scan easily and identify risks on the map at a glance.
The push notification is a user-customized, proactive service that analyzes the temperature inside the water meter container and tap water use data and sends early notifications to warn users against freezing and bursting risks. Freezing and bursting risks are forecast based on the temperature in the water meter container collected by a wireless temperature sensor installed in it and on the water use data compiled by a smart meter; thus drastically improving accuracy and user convenience.
