  • K-water shares the water management technology and know-how it has accumulated over the years, creates new growth engines in line with government policies, and provides one-stop support for SMEs and venture companies - including startups, investment in demonstrations, and the discovery of sales channels - with the aim of premeptively occupying the burgeoning global water market. Let's take a look at the main business areas of K-water, the entity in charge of the Korean water industry.
Launching ‘wateRound’, a Digital Water Platform

K-water is building an open business platform to allow various participants such as corporations, startups, and academia to easily acquire water data, to rapidly develop digital solutions for water problems, and to provide services at home and abroad. ‘wateRound’ is a state-of-the-art cloud-based digital water solution that develops various digital water solutions and supports the entire cycle including distribution and transactions through the convergence of K-water's integrated water management technology with Industry 4.0 technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the IoT. K-water launched ‘wateRound’ at the Abdu Diouf International Convention Centre in Senegal, where the 9th World Water Forum was held on March 22.

Creating the Water Industry Fund

K-water is creating the Water Industry Fund to support the growth of promising companies and to create an ecosystem for innovative start-ups in the water industry. The Regional New Deal Venture Fund is a fund jointly invested in by K-water, local governments, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Korea Venture Investment Corporation to support the water industry and innovative regional companies. The first such fund was the Chungcheong Area New Deal Venture Fund, followed by the Southeast Area New Deal Venture Fund. Based on the achievements of the first and second venture funds, K-water will establish the 3rd Honam/Jeju Region New Deal Fund and strive to expand it to 430billion KRW by 2025, with the aim of supporting 516 promising startups in the local water industry and creating 1,806 jobs.

Selected as the Management Institution of K-Testbed

K-Testbed is a demonstration support project designed to open up the infrastructures of public and private institutions to companies seeking to verify their technologies and products, and to aid their entry in to the domestic/global market by supporting technology demonstrations and issuing confirmations, and linking them with the public procurement of excellent prototypes. K-water, as the management institution of K-Testbed, plans to conduct both simple demonstrations of technologies and products and verifications of technology and product performance for companies in all industries in Korea in the first half of this year.

Selected as the CVPWC

The CVPWC is an abbreviation of ‘Companies Voluntarily Participating in Win-win Cooperation’, and refers to companies that take the lead in supporting innovative growth by cooperating with SMEs, venture companies, and small business owners. K-water was selected as the CVPWC for the first time as a public company in November 2020 in recognition of its contribution to the development of the domestic water industry.

Program to Support Joint Entry into Overseas Market

The Program to Support Joint Entry into Overseas Markets is supported by the government and K-water and aims to increase sales and create jobs by participating in overseas exhibitions and localization pilot projects together with SMEs. K-water formed an overseas market pioneering group in 2018, and has expanded it to include 46member companies as of 2022. It has participated in online overseas water industry conferences and exhibitions in Dubai, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia in order to support SMEs’ entry into overseas markets, and has generated sales of 25.5billion KRW and created 109 jobs through governmental export support programs run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups(Localization Pilot Project) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs(IBS Program) among others.
