  • K-water has a special affection for rowing. It founded the K-water rowing team in 2002 and has sponsored it ever since. It has been actively involved in the growth of the sport in Korea, fostering talented rowing athletes and holding the largest national rowing competition, contributing to the promotion and development of rowing in Korea. The 19th Love for Water National Rowing Competition is a part of K-water’s efforts to support the sport and is the first competition to be held in the last three years, which makes it even more special.
The Love for Water National Rowing Competition held in three years

K-water held the 19th Love for Water National Rowing Competition from May 14 to 16 in the Geumgang estuary in Gunsan, Jeollabukdo Province.
It is the largest annual rowing competition in Korea in terms of the number of participating athletes, and has been held every year since the first competition at Andong Dam in 2003, apart from the three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition resumed this year.
This year’s competition saw a total of 43 teams - including 16 adult and college teams, 17 high school teams, and 10 middle school teams - join the race. The K-water team won the championship in the adult team event, once again proving that it is the nation’s best team, while the Gunsan City Government Team won the championship in the women’s college team event. Korea National Sport University, Seoul Sport High School and Yesan Girls’ High School won the championship in the women’s college, boys’ high school and girls’ high school categories, respectively.
K-water CEO Jae-hyeon Park said, “I am glad that the competition has provided an opportunity for athletes to compete and show the skills they have trained so hard to improve despite the challenging circumstances including the pandemic. I hope the race in the beautiful Geumgang Estuary rowing course in Gunsan will help get more people interested in the sport of rowing in Korea. K-water will provide continued support for the growth of the sport in Korea.”

K-water Rowing Team, the Best Rowing Team in Korea

K-water founded a rowing team in 2002 and has been hosting rowing competitions to support the growth of rowing in Korea and foster talented rowing athletes. The K-water rowing team is composed of twelve athletes who train hard under the leadership of director Lee Bong-su and coach Ahn Hyo-gi. The team took first place in the 2018 Asian Championship double sculls event, and second place in eights at the 2018 Asian Cup II Rowing Competition. The team also won the championship and the first place in eights for the third year in a row at the 2019 K-water CEO Cup for the Water National Rowing Competition, proving once again that it is Korea’s best rowing team.
In addition, the K-water team won the championship in the team event, with three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal, at the 16th Hwacheon Peace Cup National Rowing Competition in April. The list goes on. Three of the team’s members, Kim Hwi-gwan, Kim Jong-jin and Mun Jong-won, were selected to join the national team at the 2022 National Rowing Team Selection Competition.
