  • K-water Win-Win Project
    The 3rd Friends of Water Market for Sharing

    K-water held the 3rd Friends of Water Market for Sharing: Haetsam Hongsam Pop-up Store on May 4 at its head office. The event features a farmers’ market to help ginseng farms near Geumgang Estuary Bank in Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnamdo Province and Jinan-gun, Jeollabukdo Province. Ginseng farmers in these areas are experiencing a triple difficulty including a build-up of stocks amid falling sales at duty-free shops due to the pandemic, price drops, and rising production costs.
    In connection with the event, K-water bought 15 million won of red ginseng products and offered them to elderly citizens in six counties including Cheongju city, Yeongdong-gun, Okcheon-gun, Geumsan-gun, Muju-gun and Jinan-gun through Community Chest of Korea branches in Chungcheongbukdo Province and Chungcheongnamdo Province and Jeollabukdo Province in celebration of the Family Month. Friends of Water Market for Sharing is a new K-ESG project launched by K-water in 2022 to mark the 55th anniversary of its foundation and to give back to local communities.

  • K-water Plogging Challenge for
    Nature and Future

    On May 4, K-water together with the Daejeon Tourism Organization and local residents conducted a plogging event on Obaekni-gil near Daecheongho Lake in Daedeuk-gu, Daejeon City to help preserve the natural environment of the lake and create a sustainable future.
    The two organizations, which are jointly responsible for the management of Daecheong Dam and the region’s famous trekking trail, decided to work together to keep the dam clean as a healing space where people and nature come together.
    In addition to the plogging event, K-water and the Daejeon Tourism Organization will continue to work together in planning and running more projects in which local residents and people from other parts of the country can participate. In the Daecheongho Lake Plogging Challenge and the One Billion Step Donation Challenge that K-water organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Children’s Day, people enjoyed water-related cultural events from May 5 to June 4, and made donations to help the future generations in Daejeon.

  • AI Chatbot takes inquiries
    on water supply

    K-water introduced an AI chatbot on May 6 to offer customer services 24 hours a day. Since K-water first started to use a chatbot for services for its own employees in 2020, the chatbot has handled over 17,000 inquiries in 18 categories so far. .
    In April, ‘Bangwooritok’, a local water supply chatbot service was launched to provide 22 local governments’ data on tap water use and other water supply data 24/7. The chatbot service deals with 60 categories including water bill inquiries and payment, water meter management and water meter reading, water leaks and applications for reductions of water bills, requests for water quality inspection, and other inquiries.
    During the pilot service in April, some 1,500 inquiries were handled, with a response rate of 95.6%. Users were found to be highly satisfied with the service.
    K-water will update and improve its responses and monitor the service performance on a regular basis in order to increase customer satisfaction with the service.

  • Award Ceremony for Winners of the College Student Ideas Contest for the Development of Issyk Kuk, Kyrgyzstan

    K-water held an award ceremony to recognize the winners of the College Student Ideas Contest on May 10, at the Han River Estuary Headquarters in Gwacheon City, Gyeonggido Province. The contest was held to promote original ideas on eco-friendly development of the Issyk Kul area in Kyrgyzstan. Under the theme of “original and realistic ideas on the development of Issyk Kul, Kyrgyzstan”, college students from home and abroad were invited to submit their original and creative ideas to the contest, which began in January.
    A total of 27 teams including 15 domestic teams and 12 Kyrgyzstan teams submitted entries, and the final four entries were selected.
    The ‘S02’ team of Sungkyunkwan University won the grand prize for its suggestion related to smart tourism and the creation of an eco-friendly industrial complex using environmentally-friendly energy in Issyk Kul, which was recognized highly for its expertise. SDG of Pusan National University was the first runner-up, and GDT of Gyeongsang National University and Urbanist of KSUCTA were selected as the second runners-up.

  • K-water and SNU signed a research MOU for carbon-neutral society

    On May 18, K-water and Seoul National University(SNU) signed an MOU on collaboration for long-term, innovative and integrative research for a carbon-neutral society, thus assuming the aim of overcoming the climate crisis facing our society as their social responsibility. Under the MOU, the two organizations will work together in research and education to create a model of sustainable development and governance
    The MOU deals mainly with comprehensive cooperation in three key areas: adoption of an integrated approach to creating a carbon-neutral society; creation of innovative solutions through multi-domain cooperation; and construction of a sustainable model of development and governance in order to create a carbon-neutral society.
    Under the terms of the MOU, K-water’s wealth of water management experience, technology and infrastructure as a leading water management organization in Korea will be combined with SNU’s extensive intellectual properties, R&D resources and industry-academia network to help cope with climate change and promote the further development of the water industry.

  • The 1st Digital Innovation Relay Forum

    K-water held the first part of the 1st Digital Innovation Relay Forum on May 18 at the Han River Estuary Headquarters in Gwacheon, Gyeonggido Province. The purpose of the forum was to create new business models using big data amid the accelerating transition to the digital era and to find ways for K-water to develop into one of the world’s leading integrated water management platform companies. The forum consists of six sessions which are scheduled to continue until the end of July. The theme of the forum is “K-water’s digital transformation and public service innovation strategies”. Professor Oh Jong-hun of KAIST delivered a special lecture titled “Digital platform government and corporate innovation”, while Professor Kim Hyeon-kyeong of Seoul National University of Science and Technology gave a presentation on “K-water’s digital transformation strategies and service innovations.”
    In the discussion sessions that followed the lecture and presentation, the panel discussed the main direction and tasks of digital transformation.
