    The Inaugural 2022 K-water Water Web Cinema Short Film Festival

  • Water and cinema are met together. K-water held the Inaugural K-water Water Web Cinema Short Film Festival to promote the value of water as a precious resource and communicate with the public.

Grand Prize Melody of Water: Daedong Yeosudo

K-water held the film festival under the theme of the significance and value of water.

On June 13, K-water held the Inaugural 2022 K-water Water Web Cinema Short Film Festival at the CGV Daejeong Terminal Theater. Sponsored by the Minister of Environment and hosted by K-water, the film festival aims to support creative activities in Korean film and art including short and independent fllms, and to expand communication with the public.
A total of 247 films competed at this first film festival and presented under the theme of water through various impressive images to highlight the importance and value of water. To screen the films, Director Khan Lee, who produced the movie The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful, and seven expert jurists in field of movies and arts participated in screening the films and selected the final ten award-winning films. The grand prize(the prize of the Minister of Environment) went to Melody of Water: Daedong Yeosudo. The jurists also selected 1 first prize, 2 runner-up prizes, and 6 honorary prizes with each winner receiving an award certificate, prize money, and trophy.

The preview of films and awards ceremony were held on and offline.

The festival, attended by some 150 citizens who are interested in films including awardees, organized the preview of the final award-winning films followed by the awards ceremony itself. It also provided diverse events including Rootfop Moonlight’s singing, classical music with a quintet, and a chat session(talk concert) for dialogue between the directors and audience.
K-water Vice-President Jeong Gyeong-yun said, “It is all the more meaningful that the Water Web Cinema Film Festival was held to rediscover the value and importance of water at a time when climate change and the environment has emerged as a most pressing issue. I thank all the festival participants and nominees, and congratulate the awardees wholeheartedly. We will keep striving to promote the value of water as a precious resource and communicate with the public.”
Meanwhile, the festival was shown online through the K-water official YouTube channel and Facebook, with the award-winning films also available through the YouTube channel.
