2022. November VOL. 656
Previously operated and managed, based on human analysis and decisions, this new intelligent water purification plant uses big data and AI to perform integrated functions, such as automated operations, predictive maintenance, energy management, and safety management. In April, K-water completed the smart water purification plant pilot project for the Hwaseong Water Purification Plant, and will expand the project to 43 municipal water purification plants nationwide.
Developed by the International Organization for Standardization(ISO), it refers to international standards designed to effectively manage risk factors that may exist in the entire process of food production and manufacture. K-water received its first certification in the food safety management system for all municipal water purification plants in the Seoul metropolitan area last year, and will strive to have 39 more plants certified by this year according to its subsequent plan.
K-water has been operating the National Water Information Center(NWIC) since January 2021. The center is responsible for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and using water supply information, while also creating and operating electronic networks and an information system for analyzing water quality and amount, supporting water supply businesses, and providing public water information services based on the collected water supply information.
In December 2021, K-water launched ‘Water Now’, a mobile app that provides real-time water information on mobile phones to help people use the tap water information services of the National Water Information System. On Water Now, users can get an overall view of the entire process from tap water production to distribution, based on the user’s location information.
The Freeze & Burst Risk Alert Service, currently available on ‘Water Now’, a mobile app developed by National Water Information Service, includes ‘the freeze & burst risk map’ and ‘push alert service’ that notifies app users of freeze and burst risks in advance. In November, the scope of the service has been expanded nationwide. With the launch of service, K-water is well on track to meet the target of zero accidents in winter.
