Desperate Effort under the Scorching Sun to Recover Normal Life

The extremely heavy rainfall struck many parts of Korea last July, causing severe damages. K-water swiftly collected its resources to conduct a variety of support activities for the victims of flood in 37 local administrative units across Korea, providing them with bottled drinking water, helping restore damaged homes, and reducing or waiving water charges. The early support activities were followed by the designation of the ‘Period of Intensive Support for Recovery from Flood Damage’ from July 20 to August 4 and visits to areas such as Goesan-gun, Iksan-si, and Yecheon-gun, where damages were severer than others, providing the victims with a variety of support programs. K-water’s volunteer group ‘Mulsarang Nanumdan’ mobilized its members—about 500 in all—to help the flood victims who were trying hard to recover their normal life regardless of the scorching heat of the summer sun.
On August 2 and 3, a group of about 200 employees of K-water led by its CEO Yun Seog-dae visited Cheongyang-gun of Chungcheongnam-do after it was designated as a Special Disaster Area. The volunteer workers helped the flood victims clean their homes, agricultural facilities, and surroundings.
The volunteer activities of K-water were preceded by a donation of 100 million KRW to Hope Bridge. Apart from the donation, K-water’s volunteer group continues its effort to help the disaster victims promptly recover their normal life, providing mobile laundry vehicles for the areas hit harder.
