The 2024 Asia International Water Week (AIWW) was held in Beijing, China from September 23 to 28. During the meeting, K-water worked with other water-managing organizations from different countries on developing key agenda and joint solutions to respond to Asia’s water issues. As the largest water festival in ASIA led by the Asia Water Council (chaired by K-water president Yun Seog-dae), AIWW brings together more than 5,000 water experts from 65 countries. This year, AWC and the Ministry of Water Resources of China jointly hosted the event under the theme of “Enhancing our Future Water Security.”
As the chair of the Asia Water Council (AWC), K-water led efforts for the resolution of Asian water issues and presented innovative solutions to enhance water security based on digital water management technology. In particular, K-water held a special session wherein it unveiled its 3 major super-gap technologies and global leading technology to help the global community respond to climate change and achieve digital transformation in water management, which was well-received by the audience. Going forward, K-water plans to preoccupy the rapidly growing global climate tech market and take on a leading role in coping with global water issues by pushing ahead with digital transformation in water management. Furthermore, K-water met with the Minister of Water Resources of China, Head of the general Directorate of Water Resources and Rationalization of Saudi Arabia, vice president of American Water Works Association (AWWA), and Vice Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia to explore the possibility of developing new markets and operated a promotion booth as part of its efforts to preoccupy the green market, including developing bridgeheads to facilitate the global expansion of the Korean water industry.
According to K-water president Yun Seog-dae, a huge green market is taking shape to respond to climate change and resolve water issues, and competition among countries to gain a share of the green market is growing at an increasing rate. “Our super-gap technology and global leading technology will be a key tool in resolving global water issues and expanding opportunities for new growth,” Yun stressed.
