  • 01 K-water declares the opening of a new chapter to join the ranks of leading global water companies

    K-water declared the beginning of a new chapter for its rise as a global top 2 water company at the 2025 new year’s business kick-off ceremony. In the face of an era when water management circumstances are becoming increasingly complicated due to climate change and changing landscape of the future industry, K-water has set 4 major business directions consistent with the new goals for 2025—with “innovation” and “back to the principles” as the two pillar concepts of the guiding philosophy—in order to concentrate on producing the intended results. The four directions are enhancing water safety, reinventing water technology, making greater inroads into the global water market, and strengthening the corporate fundamentals and profitability. These directions are designed to encompass all the water management resources, competences, and experiences unique to K-water, which has been fueling its achievements so far including overseas sales of its 3 super-gap water management technologies. “Year 2025 marks a new beginning towards emerging as 'a global top 2 water company,' and the mission of keeping people safe and happy will be our top priority. All K-water employees will do their best to enhance the national profile of Korea and create a new trend of industry-leading K-culture in the global community by further upgrading and promoting our uniquely original, innovative digital water management technology,” K-water president Yun seog-dae said.

  • 02 K-water Wins Presidential Commendation in "Disaster Management Evaluation for Core National Infrastructure"

    K-water won a presidential commendation for its outstanding performance in the disaster management evaluation for core national infrastructure hosted by the Ministry of Interior the and Safety. The evaluation was introduced in 2010 under the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety to enhance disaster and safety management for core national infrastructure. As a core disaster manager in the area of drinking water, K-water is responsible for operating and managing as many as 55 of the total core national infrastructure facilities consisting of 34 dams and 21 water purification plants, the largest number of such facilities managed by a single organization. The commendation recognizes K-water’s active involvement in making disaster management plans and improving safety. Specifically, the evaluation found that K-water did particularly well in effectively operating dams as a key national facility, minimizing the impact of extreme rainfalls on the lower regions of rivers, and securing sufficient water storage capacity for stable water supply. The commendation is also attributed to other initiatives to keep the core national infrastructure in optimal functional condition including facility automation at the spare materials concentration centers of major water purification plants, which ensures seamless supply of government-furnished materials necessary for prompt recovery in case of emergencies.

  • 03 Love for Community Market Ahead of the Lunar New Year Holidays

    The Nakdong River Love for Community Market of Lunar New Year celebration was held on January 22. The event was organized to boost the local economy and help increase income for local residents. During the event, booths were set up to promote and sell local specialty products including apples and jujubes grown in areas around 6 dams in Jinju and Cheongsong County. K-water employees and farmers worked together as a team at the booths to sell local products directly to retail consumers, giving a much-needed fresh boost to the local economy and the local farming community. K-water purchased local specialty products worth KRW 25 million at the market, making the event all the more meaningful. The products will be donated to help financially disadvantaged local residents and social welfare facilities.

  • 04 Water Information Portal MyWater Launches Multi-Language Optimization Service

    Foreigners in Korea can now have easy access to water-related information with the multi-language optimization services launched by K-water on the water information portal MyWater (www.water.or.kr). It will also help K-water communicate and interact better with the global water market. MyWater is the nation’s first convergence portal that collects various kinds of water information from different sources scattered across the country and provides 600,000 data a day in 281 categories including water quality and drought, and algal bloom. The new service highlights the overhaul of screen composition to make it more user-friendly to foreigners. Initially, the portal will start translation service in 10 most used foreign languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic, with more languages to be added gradually. The design of individual pages on the portal will also be changed to improve readability.

  • 05 K-water Offers Analysis of River Ecology and Cultural Resources

    K-water launched a new service dubbed “Analysis of the Ecology of Rivers and Cultural Resources in Korea” on January 20. It is the first attempt to integrate data on environment, culture, and communication and enhance access to and efficiency of information on rivers, streams, and other resources in and around dams. The new service is available on the environmental big data platform (bigdata-environment.kr), with key features such as locations and centerlines of more than 3,800 rivers and streams across Korea, ecological and cultural information, information search by distance (50m~3km) from the central lines of rivers and streams, user’s real-time location-based search, and “mobile-responsive” functions that are available on smart phones. For example, when a user types “river” in the search box, the results show the ecological and cultural resources available nearby and the user can choose resources to fit his/her needs and create an ideal travel route.
