In an effort to relieve the hardships caused by the recent heavy rainfalls, K-water has been actively involved in giving residents in the affected regions various relief support, including lowering water utility bills and donating bottled tap water for the victims. Firstly, K-water will operate an emergency water supply system until September, and concentrate all its efforts on ensuring a stable supply of drinking water to help expedite the recovery and minimize inconvenience for residents in the disaster-struck areas. To this end, K-water is operating the bottled tap water production facilities around the clock located at the basins of the four rivers of Hangang, Geumgang, Yeongsangang and Seomjingang to provide drinking water to the victims of the recent flooding disasters. K-water has provided a total of 210,000 bottles or 1.62 tons of tap water and some 14,000 tons of water for residential use which was transported by 165 water tankers in 32 regions declared as special disaster areas nationwide. The emergency water supply will continue until all the damaged water supply facilities will be repaired and restored.

Moreover, K-water will operate mobile washing vehicles for laundry and bathing services to provide some relief support for the people in disaster-struck areas to carry out daily life activities. K-water is also actively involved in recovery efforts by offering technical support and water-testing equipment necessary for facility restoration. Residents in certain disaster-ridden areas have been fully exempted from dam water and metropolitan water utility bills. In addition, K-water employees donated a total of KRW 100 million to help flood victims. The donations came from K-water employees voluntarily giving a portion of their salary and K-water’s own donation fund. The donation will be used to buy relief goods for flood victims and support recovery efforts. K-water CEO Yun Seog-dae said, “My deepest condolences go out to flood victims and residents displaced by the torrential rainfall. I hope the donations that all of us at K-water have raised together are used to help speed up the recovery in the flood disaster areas. Going forward, K-water will make unwavering efforts to expedite the recovery in the affected areas and mitigate the disruption for the people displaced by the recent torrential rainfall.”
