Korea’s water industry showcased at CES, a gathering of global innovative technology leaders

K-water participated in CES 2024 held on January 9 through 12 in Las Vegas, US. As the world’s largest and most powerful tech event, CES was launched in 1967 in New York. Whereas mostly electronic appliances were on display initially, the event today features ICT products and technologies and AI technologies. More than 4,000 companies from over 150 gather together at this event each year. Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix were among the participants of CES 2024, and it was particularly noteworthy that the number of semiconductor companies at the event sharply increased.
K-water was also among the most actively involved participants of the event as it is working on the domestic production of UPW, an essential material in the semiconductor industry. This is the second time K-water joined CES following last year. K-water operated the K-water pavilion measuring 232㎡ in size at CES 2024’s Eureka Hall, where K-brands of the water industry were showcased. Under the theme of “Water, Energy, and Cities,” the K-water pavilion was designed to show how water can turn into a variety of innovative products that can overcome social challenges when it meets AI, digital twin, and electrolysis as well as to demonstrate how competitive the Korean water industry is.

Technology innovation awards at CES 2024, a step closer to the creation of a water industry development platform

K-water and 19 water corporations that won technology innovation awards participated in CES 2024 together as part of efforts to help Korean companies with superior technology in different fields of water energy and urban development explore overseas markets and implement government strategies to expand green industry exports. During the 3-day event, a number of global buyers, investors, accelerators, and college representatives visited the K-water pavilion, resulting in a total of over 630 business consultations, export consultations worth 35.0 billion won, and investment discussions amounting to 16.0 billion won.
At CES 2024, Korean corporations received innovation awards in a total of 28 areas including AI, digital health, smart city, and robotic engineering. Eco Peace, one of the Korean companies participating in CES 2024, won the CES Innovation Award in 6 areas including the AI-based robotic technology that measures the quality of water and removes green algae as it moves on the water surface. K-water president Yun Seog-dae stressed that it is critical to develop core technology and preoccupy the market in order to secure a great gap.
