K-water Invites Vulnerable Social Groups to a Professional Baseball Game
Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) hosted the "2024 K-water Sports Day" on May 28, 2024 at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon. Marking the 50th anniversary of its headquarters' move to Daejeon, K-water has organized this event to fulfill its broader social responsibilities as a public enterprise and strengthen ties and understanding with vulnerable social groups by leveraging the excitement of professional baseball in the region.
Ahead of the game, over 100 people from local childcare facilities, underprivileged children, and Daejeon Disabled Sports Association visited the promotional booth in front of Hanwha Life Eagles Park at the invitation of K-water. The booth bustled with excitement as visitors eagerly participated in a variety of activities including pitching and catching experiences, cheering comments for the 50th anniversary of the relocation to Daejeon, and photo opportunities at the Bangwoori photo zone. The lively atmosphere drew not only local youth and children but also baseball fans seeking a fun-filled outing, creating a bustling crowd that overflowed with enthusiasm.
K-water's adorable mascot, Bangwoori, has teamed up with the Hanwha Eagles to create a limited-edition merchandise collection called "Bangwoori at the Ballpark." This collaboration has been a resounding success, with the entire stock selling out as soon as it hit the shelves. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to local community development initiatives. In addition to this, K-water extends its commitment to fostering harmonious coexistence with local communities through a diverse range of initiatives including the Daedeok Water Light Festival and direct trading market.
The highly anticipated match kicked off with a ceremonial pitch by Yun Seogdae, CEO of K-water. The electrifying atmosphere was fueled by the passionate cheers of the spectators, culminating in a resounding victory for Hanwha with 3-12 as the final score. This unforgettable event left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to witness it.
