Amid the worsening climate crisis, cross-border cooperation is becoming increasingly crucial to cope with water issues breaking out across the globe. At the 2024 Asia International Water Week (AIWW)—a gathering of 65 countries—K-water reasserted its global leadership and rigorously explored new breakthroughs for the resolution of global water problems with its leading super-gap water management technology playing a key role in the process.

From October 4 through 6, the 50-year history of K-water since its relocation to Daejeon unfolded in a panorama at the Mulbit Square. K-water held “The Festa with Bangwoori” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its relocation to Daejeon and express its commitment to opening an era of regional development for the next 100 years. The event consists of the Exhibition Zone for a panoramic review of K-water’s past, present, and future in Daejeon, the Experience Zone for visitors to gain hands-on experiences with 3 super-gap technologies, the 1974 Retro Zone, and other hands-on experience content. Daejeon citizens and tourists from other parts of the country had fun as they took photos at the photo zone featuring K-water’s mascot Bangwoori, ate Bangwoori-shaped cotton candy, visited Bangwol-four-cut photo booth for Polaroid photos, and browsed through lovely goods.
The 50th anniversary is also being celebrated at its headquarters. The 50th Anniversary of Headquarters Relocation Archive Exhibition has been held since October 14 in the lobby on the 3rd floor. The exhibition showcases a broad array of records and materials, allowing the audience to get a panoramic view of K-water's 50-year history, including photos of the new head office building immediately after its completion in 1974 and the changing landscapes of Daejeon, newspaper ads, and major milestones since K-water was founded in 1968. Interviews with former K-water employees who were the pillars of the relocation are shown on a video, and visitors are invited to participate in an event where they leave encouraging comments. The exhibition is open to the public from 9 am to 6 pm.
