Happy and Proud to Be K-water Employees

As a leading public enterprise based in Daejeon, K-water continues to engage actively with the local community in various ways. One of the most notable efforts is the annual K-water Sports Day (“Sports Day”), held in collaboration with the Daejeon-based baseball team Hanwha Eagles. On May 14th, even before the game began, Hanwha Life Eagles Park was bustling with excitement. Crowds gathered around the promotional booth set up by K-water at the stadium entrance, eager to take part in the special events organized for Sports Day. Children who came hand-in-hand with their parents were captivated by face painting and caricature drawings, with long lines forming at the Bangwoori photo zone and photo booth as fans waited to snap a commemorative picture.
Held every May, which is known as the Family Month in Korea, Sports Day has become a cherished opportunity for families to create joyful memories together. Kwan-young Jeong, Deputy Director of the Finance Management Division, shared his experience: “I came to the stadium for the first time earlier this season, and my daughter absolutely loved it. Today, we came back as a family for Sports Day, and there are so many fun activities! I was especially surprised by how high-quality the face painting was.”

United by Baseball

Before the game began, K-water CEO Yun Seog-dae as the ceremonial first pitcher and Union Chairman Ki-chan Park who took the first swing stepped onto the mound. Throughout the game, which was declared open with the ceremonial first pitch and swing, the stands were filled with passionate cheers from employees and fans alike.
During the field maintenance break at the bottom of the 5th inning, a raffle event was held using tickets that had been distributed earlier at the booth. The prizes at stake were special collaboration goods featuring Bangwoori and Hanwha Eagles: “Bangwoori Goes to the Ballpark” and keyrings. First released last year and quickly sold out, the Bangwoori goods returned this year with an even more confident expression on the face. Even those who did not win need not be disappointed because the limited-edition Bangwoori goods are also available for purchase at the Hanwha Eagles goods shop, with all the proceeds to be donated to local community support programs. K-water Sports Day gave employees and their families unforgettable memories who shouted together, “Today, we’re not office workers, but baseball fans!” Going forward, K-water will continue to create opportunities that bring employees, their families, and the local community closer together.

Thoughts on K-water Sports Day from K-water Employees

  • Hyun-woo Kang, Geum River Weir Office
We’re participating in leisure activities under the motto “Let’s go back to our prime through sports!” and today’s Sports Day is part of that. Even before the games began, the whole atmosphere felt like a festival, which made me really excited.
  • Hae-myung Choi, Seoul Metropolitan Water Supply Project Office
What makes the Hanwha Eagles special isn’t their performance, but how sincerely they connect with fans. On top of that, it’s a collaboration with my own company, K-water—absolutely love it!
  • Jina Song, Accounting & Finance Department
Hae-min Noh, Water Resources Development Department
Hye-min Han, Space & Landscape Department
We came with colleagues who are not interested in baseball, and our biggest goal today is to get them into it! And if we have a small wish… it’s to win the raffle and get some Bangwoori merchandise.
  • Hyun-sik Cho, K-water Research Institute
It’s really hard to get baseball tickets these days. That’s why I didn’t want to miss the chance to attend Sports Day. My child was thrilled to see Bangwoori (mascot), too. Watching baseball live is so much better than watching it on TV. I’m planning to have a great time cheering and relieving stress with my family.
  • Young-gyu Choi, Jeong-hee Shin, and Seong-soo Yeo, Northeast Gyeonggi Office
A lot of people at our office love baseball. Even though we support different teams, we’re united by our shared love for the game. Since this is a company-organized event, we’ve decided to cheer for the Hanwha Eagles today.
We’re ready to cheer at the top of our lungs!
  • Jin-hyung Park, Waterfront Business Department
I watched my first baseball game in last year’s Sports Day, and the Hanwha Eagles won by a wide margin. I didn’t really care much about baseball before that, but the thrill of that victory stuck with me. That’s why I came back again this year.
  • Chae-eun Song, Byeong-cheol Song of Chungju Water Supply Office, and her friend I-rang
I came with my dad last year, too, and this year there are even more fun things! I got my face painted and took photos with Bangwoori. My favorite part was the photo booth!
  • Kyung-hoon Park, Planning & Coordination Department
Thanks to the company, we got the chance to go on a nice family outing. My child really wanted to do face painting, but we arrived late and missed it. Next year, we’ll come earlier and enjoy everything more fully.
  • Myung-woo Park, Ha-yeong Kang, Jong-hee Chae, Jaewan Shim, Asan Office
It’s our first time at this stadium, and it’s really nice and comfortable. The wind is strong today, but once the game starts, our cheers will heat up the stadium.
  • Seung-je Lee, Danyang Water Supply Office
It’s my first time going on a date with just my daughter, and I’m feeling excited. The moment she had her caricature drawn at the event booth, seeing how happy she was made me feel proud.
