New hope found in Malaysia

On August 27, 2023, 35 K-water employees headed to Kuala Lumpur to carry out social contribution activities in Malaysia. K-water employees engaged in various social contribution activities such as drinking water improvement project, environment project, and education for the future generation in Kuala Lumpur and a tribal village in Orang Asli for eight days until September 3. They also performed renovation and repair works for old facilities at the Youth Orphanage facility and centers for the disabled where they needed helping hands. While changing the water pipes, repairing the roofs, and decorating the building exteriors, they tried to create a unique look for the area and strived to improve the environment through plogging and clean-up activities.
Furthermore, the employees provided educational programs including drawing, balloon art, bead bracelet making, and traditional Korean games so that the natives could learn about a new culture. Meanwhile, they also had a good time with the local residents by playing various games together such as polaroid photo shooting, bubble play, and face painting.
As a water specialist, K-water has been carrying out overseas social contribution activities in areas vulnerable to the water environment since 2006 in order to achieve the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and support the resolution of global water problems. Using this social contribution activity in Malaysia as a steppingstone, K-water plans to implement a drinking water development project in the native villages of Orang Asli.
