Joint labor-management declaration of gender equality in celebration of 2023 Gender Equality Week

K-water held a joint labor-management declaration ceremony on September 4 at the Daejeon Headquarters in celebration of Gender Equality Week. The ceremony was organized to raise awareness of gender quality among all employees and to realize an equal workplace. Both labor and management vowed to make effort to guarantee equal treatment, participation opportunities, rights, and obligations without gender distinction, to create harmonious work-life balance, and to establish a horizontal organizational culture wherein members show consideration for and respect each other. Various events were also held that day, including an award ceremony for the winners at the gender equality art contest, an exhibition, and a quiz show for all employees.

K-water wins ‘Crystal Drop Award’ for the first time in Asia!

K-water won the Crystal Drop Award, the highest recognition in the water area given by the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), for the first time in Asia on September 11. The Crystal Drop Award is given to organizations or individuals in recognition of their contributions to solving the world’s water problems. By winning this award, K-water, which gained this honor for the first time among Asian organizations and individuals, got to promote Korea’s water management technology and capabilities in the world and gained an opportunity to enhance Korea’s global status in the water sector.

K-water Yieum Market Day

K-water held the K-water Yieum Market Day together with neighboring residents of the dam at the Daejeon Headquarters before Chuseok on September 13. Farmers from all over the country participated in the market where a total of 12 agricultural and marine products including apples, grapes, shiitake mushrooms, and abalones were on sale. The market was organized as a direct market for selling farming products in order to promote agricultural and marine products produced by residents around the dam who are experiencing difficulties due to abnormal weather this summer. K-water also participated as a buyer, purchasing farming products worth KRW 40 million and delivering them to local communities.

CEO Yun Seog-dae meets Ukrainian Ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko

Dmytro Ponomarenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Korea, visited K-water on September 12 to have an in-depth discussion with CEO Yun Seog-dae on cooperation measures to reconstruct Ukraine. CEO Yun Seog-dae and Ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko shared major issues related to Ukraine’s damage situation and reconstruction and discussed mutual cooperation plans utilizing K-water’s technology and capabilities in water management and urban reconstruction. As a member of ‘One Team Korea,’ K-water will continue to cooperate with the Embassy of Ukraine in Korea and other related organizations and do its best to help Korean companies actively advance into the reconstruction project in Ukraine.

The 2nd Mekong-Korea International Water Forum

K-water held the 2nd Mekong-Korea International Water Forum from September 7 to 8, 2023 at the Gyeongwonjae Ambassador Incheon to solve water problems in five countries along Mekong River. The Water Forum is a cooperation and development platform that includes the governments in the Mekong River basin and development partners and is also a venue for international cooperation to draw water-related agendas and discuss solutions related to the Mekong River basin. At the Forum, participants discussed various agendas under the theme of ‘Improvement of climate change resilience in the Mekong region through digital water management.’ Various companies also communicated with each other actively for overseas expansion.

Examining K-water’s climate crisis response capability and making a resolution for people-oriented innovation

K-water held a ‘company-wide management meeting’ on September 13 at the Daejeon Headquarters to discuss climate crisis response issues for prioritizing public safety and support for private-led growth. At the meeting, K-water examined the results of its efforts to secure public safety by operating a thorough emergency response system during the flood season last summer. In addition, as a national water management specialist, K-water discussed measures to secure new water resources including dams in the future and to support local rivers and streams in local governments, and pledged to do its best to improve its response capability against disasters in the era of climate crisis. Furthermore, K-water made a resolution to cooperate in solving various problems through regulatory innovations and set a new management direction.
