• Congratulations to Soyanggang Dam on the 50th anniversary of its construction!

  Year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of construction of Soyanggang Dam. K-water’s Soyanggang Dam Office has been busy with preparations for its celebratory event and dam renovation including repair and maintenance work. ‘All employees of the Soyanggang Dam Office, including Head of Dam Office Park Byeong-gun, Head of Administration Department Lee Taek-su, and Head of Operation Department Kim Do-gyun, are endeavoring to manage the operation of the dam, which is directly connected to the people’s safety and lives,’ Manager Byeon Dong-min of the Operation Department said. That’s why the K-water Coffee Truck was sent to the Office to encourage them! It’s been a while since the Ipchu (the initial day of autumn), but the truck arrived on a day in September when the heat of late summer was unrelenting. Welcoming the coffee truck, employees with smiling faces began to gather at the truck one by one.

  “It’s really hot this year. Everyone worked hard to solve the problem with green algae, which recently appeared at the upstream of Soyanggang Dam.” Following Manager Byeon Dong-min, other employees like Lee Yu-jin, Assistant manager Gwon Ga-haeng, and Lee Sang-hyeon also exchanged warm greetings with a bright smile: “It was really hot today, but I had a good day thanks to the coffee truck,” “I enjoyed delicious coffee and today, I was able to talk to colleagues I couldn’t talk to much lately because of work,” and “I had three drinks today! Both Green Grape Ade and Citrus Ade were very tasty!”
  Meanwhile, Manager Byeon Dong-min expressed regret that some people were unable to come here today because they were busy with their jobs. “There are many workers staying at the site at the moment due to renovation work, which is being carried out to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Soyanggang Dam. I am so pleased about the fact that we were able to offer cold coffee to field workers as well. However, the captains of the ships operated by the Soyanggang Dam Office were too busy with work such as inspections, so they couldn’t come today. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Captain Lee Do-gyeom and Captain Hong Cheol-ho for their hard work investigating the upstream water quality and removing green algae this hot summer!”

Once employees, holding cold drinks, gathered together, the eagerly anticipated magic show started. “Wow! It’s amazing! Oh~ that’s really mind-boggling!” With a burst of exclamation, the reaction of employees attending the magic show was priceless. Assistant manager Hong Seong-jae said, “It was my first time to watch a magic show. It’s really amazing!” Deputy manager Kim Jin-gyu and Assistant manager Han Seo-wu also expressed their pleasure with a big smile. “Today’s highlight was the magic show. I hope it will come here again!” “The K-water Coffee Truck isn’t an option but a necessity! I want to learn magic one day.”
As the magic show came to an end, a rose flower bloomed from a waterless pot at the magician’s hand gesture, as if praying for the next 50 bright years of Soyanggang Dam. “I hope all at Soyanggang Dam come together as a whole to complete their works with no problems. Based on this, I hope Soyanggang Dam will continue to contribute to people’s happiness and prosperity for the next 50 years as well. Let’s work hard with one mind and one voice to achieve the water innovation that people want!” As the magic show ended with Head of Dam Office Park Byeong-guk’s remarks, the song ‘Soyanggang Lady,’ which is naturally reminiscent of Soyanggang River, was played. ‘When Soyanggang River falls into twilight at sunset, when camellia flowers bloom and fall……’ the new 50 years of Soyanggang Dam will begin!
